Air Ambulance counts on Williams Denton at Bangor 10K

Wales Air Ambulance is banking on Williams Denton pulling in some much needed funds when the accountancy team don their running shoes for this weekend’s Bangor 10K race.

The five-strong team of accountants and support staff are hoping to raise £3,000 for the charity, which is solely funded through donations.

While the team have been putting in some serious training for the run, the road to the 10K hasn’t been smooth, with director Keith Barker sustaining a muscle injury just a week or so before the big day.

Keith, who hasn’t run in a race of this kind for 25 years, said: “I’ve had to put my feet up after spraining a muscle, but I’m confident I’ll be running again by next weekend.”

So far the Williams Denton team have raised more than £1,500, which is equivalent to one potentially life-saving helicopter trip. They are currently the only team running at the May 27 race in aid of Wales Air Ambulance.

Gwynedd Community Coordinator for the charity Eifion Jones said: “It takes £6m a year to fund the Air Ambulance and none of that money comes from the National Lottery or government, we rely solely on the generosity of the people of Wales.

“The type of fundraising that Williams Denton is doing is hugely important to our ability to deliver the service we do for the people of Wales and we hope that everyone gets behind the team at the weekend to cheer them on.”

Keith added: “Wales Air Ambulance provides such an important service for the people of North Wales. Knowing that each much-needed trip costs £1,500 makes us even more determined to raise as much as possible for this amazing charity.”
