Businesses and community groups in North Wales are being urged to get involved in a new project to help them work – and grow – together.
More than 90 guests attended the launch of Business Supporting Communities (B2C) project, organised by the six County Voluntary Councils in North Wales, to find out more about opportunities of mutual benefit to businesses and local communities across the region.
The project aimed at helping businesses to become more involved with their local community officially launched in North Wales last week.
Those gathered heard from a number of business people whose companies have already benefited from employer supported volunteering programmes as well as from keynote speaker, BBC Business Doctor, Paul Thomas.
There were also networking opportunities and seminars on subjects including collaborative working and the benefits of sharing skills. B2C project Manager Sarah Thomas hailed the launch, held at Llandudno’s Venue Cymru, a great success.
She said: “We have had a fantastic response to the launch. There was a real buzz about the place on the day with people exchanging ideas about how we can achieve sustainable development in our local communities across North Wales.
“Dr Paul Thomas inspired the audience to think outside the box in achieving sustainable organisations and the importance of face to face communications in a modern world.”
B2C, is a Big lottery funded project which has been set up to create sustainable links between Third Sector groups and local businesses, bringing a wealth of expertise and experience together to benefit local communities.
It is not about money, it’s about time, expertise and providing valuable practical and in-kind support for the Third Sector in North Wales.
Businesses across North Wales have already seen the opportunities that helping their local community can provide and, following the official launch, B2C aim to encourage more to get involved.
“Our focus now is to engage with more businesses and to work with them through the six County Voluntary Councils to link their needs to that of their local community through projects which meet business aspirations, discovering the benefits of sharing expertise and working together.” Sarah added.
