Community groups to ensure they’re insured suitably

B2C Wales logoAn expert led workshop in June will help community groups manage risks, guiding them through the somewhat bureaucratic world of insurance, in this ever-more litigious society.

The workshop, entitled ‘Understanding Insurance’ is the second such workshop led by Brian Gelling of Daulby Read Insurance Brokers as part of the Business Supporting Communities (B2C) Project’s B2C Professionals initiative.

Taking place at DVSC in Rhyl on June 14, the purpose of this informal workshop is to help build a better understanding of the different types of insurance, what to look out for when purchasing insurance and how to best protect your organisation, your staff and your beneficiaries.

Four key topics will be covered: Trustee Indemnity; Liability and Abuse; Risks of Fundraising; Fidelity.

B2C Project Manager Sarah Thomas explained: “The first workshop, which was held in Colwyn Bay in March, was very successful, and we are very grateful to Mr Gelling who has agreed to impart his expert knowledge to more community groups in Denbighshire.

“There are many responsibilities involved in running a charity or social enterprise and, hopefully, this workshop will help people in that position gain a better understanding of the sometimes very complex and confusing world of insurance.

“Attendees will hear from Brian on a range of topics and will be able to ask questions and get the answers they have sought,  ensuring they can leave feeling confident about how to safeguard their organisation and their beneficiaries.”

B2C Professional links a broad range of specialist professional firms to a variety of community groups, which lack the resources to pay for professional advice, via fee-free workshops such as this and bespoke one-to-one support sessions.

The North Wales Business Supporting Communities (B2C) Project aims to create mutually beneficial relationships between businesses and community groups, through a range of different initiatives, including B2C Professionals.

B2C is a Big Lottery funded partnership project delivered by the six North Wales County Voluntary Councils.

The ‘Understanding Insurance’ workshop takes place at DVSC, Morfa Clwyd Business Centre, Rhyl, on June 14 from 9.30am – 12.30pm.
