Leading law firm offers free advice to Conwy community groups

A new project that helps community groups and businesses forge stronger links has enrolled leading law firm Gamlins to offer a morning of free legal advice later this month.

The workshop will offer community and voluntary groups in Conwy the opportunity to grill Gamlins on topics such as trustees and their legal duties, employment law and legal structures.

It has been organised by Business Supporting Communities (B2C) and Conwy Voluntary Services Council.

William Bankes of Gamlins Solicitors said: “Gamlins are delighted to be part of the B2C project and support volunteer and community groups in North Wales. We hope that by giving this workshop, we can highlight governance issues and legal pitfalls that these extremely worthwhile groups should be aware of.”

The workshop, on September 20, is the first in a series of workshops, where community and voluntary groups will get advice from leading experts in their field.

Lucy Kew, project officer for B2C in Denbighshire and Conwy said: “This workshop is part of out B2C Professional initiative, where we aim to link a broad range of specialist advice through cost-free workshops and one-to-one sessions. We have to thank Gamlins for being the first to offer their expertise to help volunteers in this way. I would urge community groups in Conwy take advantage of their generosity.”

The morning workshop takes place on September 20. The session, which starts at 9.30am and continues until lunchtime, is only open to groups in Conwy. Places must be booked by Monday September 17.
