Reducing the risks workshop for trustees

In an increasingly litigious world, one Gwynedd community project is helping trustees navigate their way through their legal responsibilities.

Liability and trustee indemnity will be just two of the topics covered during an insurance workshop next month organised by Business Supporting Communities (B2C), funded by the Big Lottery and delivered by both Wales’ six County Voluntary Councils.

The workshop, to be held in Caernarfon on August 15, by Brian Gelling from Daulby Read Insurance, is free of charge to trustees and community groups.

Brian explained he will take an informal and interactive insight into insurance and how it affects charities, trustees, employees, volunteers and service users.

He will cover trustee indemnity, liability and abuse, hazards of fundraising and fidelity.

B2C’s Project Officer, Edwyn Thomas said: “We are really grateful to Brian for agreeing to hold this workshop which we know will help people in that position gain a better understanding of the sometimes very complex and confusing world of insurance.”

“This is a great opportunity to receive free advice in an informal atmosphere.People will be able to ask questions and get answers to burning questions, ensuring they can leave feeling confident about how to safeguard their organisation and their beneficiaries.”

Understanding Insurance will be held on August 15, from 9.30am until 12.30pm, at the Seiont Manor Hotel.

B2C works to help bring businesses and community groups together, to mutual advantage. For further information about this or to find out more about future B2C workshops in Gwynedd and Ynys Mon contact Edwyn Thomas, B2C Project Officer on 01248 724944 or visit www.b2cwales.co.uk
