Help for Heroes marathon challenge marches into Manchester

Manchester weight loss guru Charlie Walduck and ITV’s Dr Chris Steele are set to join Marathon man Simon Buckden on the latest leg of his 100 week challenge.

The pair will walk a 26.2 mile route around Manchester this Sunday (21 August) to raise funds for Help for Heroes and raise awareness of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Simon Buckden, a vereran of the first Gulf War who has been diagnosed with PTSD, has set himself the challenge of completing 100 marathons in 100 weeks. Manchester marks marathon number 26, and Charlie and Dr Chris are welcoming the Yorkshire man to their home territory.

Charlie, who is no stranger to charity events, having raised thousands of pounds for charity, said he was delighted to be able to lend his support to Simon.

Charlie said: “When I heard about Simon’s challenge I knew I had to help however I could and so came up with this route and offered to join him in his fundraising efforts.”

The route, which starts at 10am outside Bury Town Hall, will take in Didsbury, where the pair will be joined by ITV This Morning’s Dr Chris Steele.

Dr Chris said: “I am full of admiration for all Simon and Charlie have and continue to achieve, in facing the obstacles that beset their lives. A marathon is a significant challenge for anyone and I am privileged to be able to show my support in Manchester this Saturday to cheer them on. I hope that plenty of other well-wishers will join me in doing so.”

People are invited to show their support for Simon, Charlie and Dr Chris’s marathon effort by joining the route, full details of which will be posted on Charlie’s website www.therightcharlie.com
