It all a’counts for the community

COMMUNITY accounts, audits and book keeping were just some of the topics covered during Business Supporting Communities’ latest workshop.

The session was part of a series of workshops run under the Business Supporting Communities (B2C) project funded by the Big Lottery in collaboration with the CVC’s across North Wales.

This was run through the Gwynedd and Anglesey Team and Medrwn Môn .

The community accounts advice session, held in Menai Bridge, was taken by Gary Tann from Parker O’Regan , Tann and Co. Chartered accountants in Bangor.

A variety of community groups from Anglesey turned up to the session to hear advice on; keeping community accounts, claiming gift aid as a charity, the difference between an Audit and checked accounts, keeping accounts transparent and some tips and information on book keeping.

“We have started to add the questions and answers on the forum on our website and more will be added over the next few days, which many groups might find useful and relevant to their organisation as well,” said Emily Williamson, B2C Project Officer for Anglesey and Gwynedd.

“The opportunity is now also available for community / voluntary organisations to post questions that they have on our forum and one of our team of local professionals will try and get back to them.

“Garry has also kindly agreed to hold monthly advice surgeries offering local community groups one to one advice on any pressing topics, these sessions are being organised through me should anyone one to book.”
