North Wales businesses invited to take part in new TV show

Llandudno and Bangor-based accountancy firm Williams Denton is launching a search, alongside their colleague firms in The Corporate Finance Network, for businesses to take part in a new TV show.

‘The Dealmaker’ will be a brand new series, following three companies as they are advised by a team from The Corporate Finance Network, to make their first business acquisition.

From the inception stage to identify suitable target businesses through to legal completion, the fees for the transaction will be completely free.

The concept is the brainchild of Kirsty McGregor, founder and Chairman of The Corporate Finance Network, a national network of accountancy firms that specialise in corporate finance for small and medium sized businesses.

She has recently met Lord Young, the Prime Minister’s Enterprise Adviser, at Downing Street, to campaign for the government to introduce a tax relief for business share purchases.

This week Ms McGregor is launching the national search for businesses to appear in The Dealmaker at The Business Show at Olympia in London, and Williams Denton are launching the same search here in North Wales.

Peter Denton of Williams Denton said: “In our view, there has never been a better time to buy a business.  With so many struggling companies in our current economy, and aging business owners with no exit plan, it is definitely a buyer’s market.

“There are some bargains to be had, but we do need more entrepreneurs to look at purchasing, as part of their overall growth strategy.  We hope this TV programme will demystify the process of buying a business, so that business owners, and employees of smaller businesses, may be encouraged to look at the option of a merger or acquisition in their own markets.

“We are now looking for businesses from around the UK, who want to make their first acquisition with us, and in return for the process being filmed, they will receive all corporate finance, accountancy and legal advice, relating to the transaction, for no cost at all.”

The criteria for the companies who wish to become purchasers are: they must have been trading at least three years, must be a UK Limited Company, must have sales turnover of at least £500,000 excluding VAT and must not have purchased any business previously.

To apply, businesses should send an email, together with their full accounts, in complete confidence, to Dealmaker@TheCFN.org.uk.
