Peppards builds on customer service ethos for online launch Wednesday

A 52 year-old family run builders merchant is moving into 24/7 trading with an online relaunch.

Dunsden-based builders merchant Peppard Building Supplies, has spent months developing a new website that marries the company’s traditional focus on individual customer service, with latest technology. The result is a site that allows customers 24 hour access to their accounts, information on 5,000 products and a special section to ask technical questions of Peppard’s resident experts, day or night.

Peppard Building Supplies’ Sales and Marketing Director Ru Butler said: “While it wouldn’t be feasible to open our store 24/7, we know that builders and property developers are busy people and need information outside of normal office hours.

“Our customers can log in to their own personal account day or night and find whatever they need for the job in hand.”

The new ‘Ask the Expert’ section allows people to submit a question to Peppard’s experienced team of staff on any technical issue, and get a response within 24 hours on a normal working day.

The new site also enables customers to see the latest promotions, order and collect products or use a delivery service, which spans across Berkshire and South Oxfordshire.

This relaunch comes as part of a larger marketing drive which the independent builders merchant hopes will help it compete with the bigger names in the industry.

Ru explained: “We know from customer surveys that part of what makes our company different from the larger operators is the knowledge our staff have and the attention we can give clients. We wanted to extend the quality service that people receive by coming into the store or calling the team, to our online offering.

“We live in an age where it can be hard to get quality advice, we have retained that old-fashioned sense of customer service that the company started with and its something our customers seem to value.”
