Williams Denton recognised for ‘inspired business leadership’

A leading North Wales accountant has been nominated for a prestigious business award.

Peter Denton, director at Llandudno and Bangor-based accountants and tax advisors Williams Denton said he was “surprised and delighted” to have been nominated in the North Wales category of the IoD Wales Director of the Year Awards for 2013.

The awards recognise inspired business leadership and those who take on the challenges of the current economic climate and see them as opportunities.

Peter said: “As a company, we have grown in recent years and have adapted to help our clients in these difficult economic times.

“I’m very proud to have been nominated for this award and I feel that it is the work and success of the whole firm that is being recognised, not simply a personal achievement.”

In the past year, Williams Denton has joined the Corporate Finance Network, a UK-wide group of accountancy firms and business advisors, and has launched a ‘Tax App’, giving people easy access to a wealth of information, literally at their fingertips.

In recognition of his 34 years’ experience working with and advising small businesses, Peter also recently sat on a panel that drew up the Micro-Business Report for Wales. This independent report provided recommendations to the Welsh Assembly Government, detailing how to support the sustainable growth of micro-businesses in Wales.

He has also acted as a budget spokesperson for the ACCA, offering a small business perspective on the Chancellor’s plans for the economy.

Robert Lloyd-Griffiths, IoD director for Wales said: “The quality of Peter’s nomination and the details contained within his application were very impressive. He has had major achievements over the years in his particular field.

“We have been very lucky this year with the quality of nominations and Peter’s entry is a reflection of that.”

Peter is the founding director of Williams Denton, which employs 35 staff at its offices in Bangor and Llandudno. He is a member of the Institute of Directors and a Fellow of the ACCA.

The IoD Wales awards event will take place at the SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff on Friday, May 10.

The winner will be entered into the UK-wide National IoD Awards, held in London later in the year.
