Meridian Drilling expands operation to Dubai

UK-headquartered geo-exploration drilling company Meridian Drilling has opened a new office in Dubai, bringing its operations base closer to projects in Africa and the Middle East.

The office, based in Dubai Airport Freezone, will support operations and logistics for the privately owned company, which has earned a reputation for working in remote and difficult environments.

Managing director of Meridian Drilling Jeremy More said: “While we plan to keep our UK office open for administrative support, we wanted to bring our operations closer to clients to ensure they get the very best possible service.

“The Dubai office was chosen specifically because it is minutes from a departure gate. It not only improves our ability to get to clients when needed, it means that they can come to a meeting and be back on an aeroplane within hours.”

Meridian Drilling operates eight rigs, all under four years old, with around 150 staff currently working on projects in Ethiopia, the Republic of Congo and Turkey. It has also recently completed a project in the UK for Anglesey Mining.

Specialising in potash, precious and base metals, water well and geo-technical drilling, the fast-growing company now hopes the new base in Dubai will fuel an expansion into projects in the Middle East.
